Dr. John Tai-Chun Fung is an internationally recognised academic leader and pioneer in simulation-based and AI-driven healthcare education. As Senior Lecturer and Programme Director of the Master of Science in Nursing at The University of Hong Kong, he has established himself as a transformative force in nursing education across Asia and beyond. Distinguished as Hong Kong's first nursing educator to secure a patent for asynchronous debriefing and to publish the GenAI patient simulation platform VITALS — now adopted globally — Dr. Fung's scholarship has redefined pedagogical standards in healthcare education. His visionary leadership spans strategic governance as Chair of the Quality and Safety Committee, International Relations Coordinator (Lead), and Hong Kong's first ASPiH-accredited simulation educator. With over HK$4.2 million secured as Principal Investigator in competitive teaching grants, HKU's Outstanding Teaching Award (2023), dual Teaching Innovation Awards (2020, 2023), and UGC Teaching Award finalist recognition (2024), Dr. Fung demonstrates sustained impact in curriculum innovation, student outcomes, and institutional leadership.
