Dr. Kuharaj Balasubramaniam is a distinguished Malaysian Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist with extensive expertise in minimally invasive gynaecological surgery and gynaecological oncology. Born on September 23, 1977, he earned his Bachelor of Medical Science (B.Med.Sci) from the University of Nottingham and completed his medical degree (MBBS) at the International Medical University in Malaysia, followed by becoming a Member of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (MRCOG) in the UK. Driven by a commitment to comprehensive clinical care and professional versatility, he went on to earn advanced certifications in laparoscopic surgery in India and Belgium, alongside a law degree (LLB) from the University of London and credentials as a certified mediator and international arbitrator. Over his career—which includes serving in tertiary referral centers under the Ministry of Health Malaysia and practicing as a resident consultant at Assunta Hospital—Dr. Kuharaj has made significant contributions to women’s health, cervical cancer prevention, and patient advocacy. In recognition of his outstanding public service in obstetrics and gynaecology, he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal (Pingat Jasa Kebaktian, PJK) by the state of Melaka.
