Born in 1969, Óscar Gaspar has a degree in Economics and a postgraduate qualification in Public Management. After working in banking, Oscar Gaspar served as economic advisor to the Prime Minister (between 2005 and 2009) and as Secretary of State for Health, between 2009 and 2011. In 2016, he was chosen as president of the APHP – Portuguese Association of Private Hospitals, a position to which he was unanimously re-elected in 2023. As well as chairing the APHP, Oscar Gaspar is now the Presidente of UEHP – the European Union of Private Hospitals. Oscar Gaspar is member of the Board of CIP Portuguese Business Confederation and of the Portuguese Economic and Social Council. He is also vice-president of CIP's Health, Prevention and Well-being Council and member of the Advisory Boards of the Health Regulatory Authority and of the Institute of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine.
