Prof. Dato’ Sri Dr Mohamed Ezani Md Taib is one of Malaysia's foremost cardiothoracic surgeons, recognised for his pioneering contributions to cardiovascular surgery, transplantation, healthcare leadership, and medical education. With more than three decades of clinical experience, he has dedicated his career to advancing cardiovascular medicine and shaping specialised healthcare in Malaysia and the ASEAN region. Prof. Ezani currently serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Institut Jantung Negara (IJN), Malaysia's National Heart Institute and the country's leading tertiary referral centre for cardiovascular and thoracic medicine. Under his leadership, IJN has strengthened its position as one of Southeast Asia's foremost cardiovascular centres, delivering excellence in patient care, clinical innovation, digital transformation, quality, education, and research. His stewardship has seen IJN attain numerous international milestones, including becoming the first hospital in Malaysia to achieve HIMSS EMRAM Stage 7 validation, reaffirming its position among the world's leading digitally enabled healthcare institutions. He has also been instrumental in expanding IJN's regional footprint through medical tourism initiatives, positioning the institute as a preferred destination for international patients seeking specialised cardiovascular care. In recognition of its excellence, IJN was conferred the Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) Flagship Medical Tourism Hospital designation for Medical and Technology Excellence.
